5 Tips to Spring Clean Your Life

The piles of snow are finally melting away and tulips are bursting from the ground. That’s right ladies, spring is in the air. It is time to pack away your wool sweaters and bust out the colorful tops that have been hibernating in your closet. Here are five tips that will help give you a clean start this spring.

Go for a walk or run.

Your Pinterest feed is filled with super cute bikinis that you can’t wait IMG_0154to don this summer but you are probably feeling a little pudgy from the comfort food that you have been chowing down all winter. The good news is that spring brings perfect weather to get outside and active. Take 20 minutes from your schedule to go outside for a walk or run. Chose a route that will take you past blossoming trees and flourishing flowers and you will be more motivated to head back out.

Go through your wardrobe and donate what you don’t want.

With temperatures rising every week it’s time to pack away your snow boots and slip on some cute sandals. You will go into your drawer 0014wanting to throw on that perfect spring tee and you find that it has   seen some better days. Take an afternoon to organize and clean your closet and you’ll be glad that you did. Start by laying out your entire wardrobe on the bed and trying items on. Does it look good? Does it make you feel confident? If the answer is a resounding yes, great! Fold it up neatly and place it back in your drawer. If you find that it doesn’t do anything for you, no worries. Set it aside in a bag and donate it to your local Goodwill, Salvation Army, woman’s shelter, or clothing drive.

Do a deep clean of your room.

You keep your room tidy for the most part but chances are there are a couple dust bunnies lurking under your desk. Take a day to scrub down every nook and cranny of your room. Start by picking up everything off of your floor—dirty clothes, shoes, purses, etc. Changing the sheets is the next step because there is nothing better than a clean bed. Next, grab a duster and dust off every surface. Vacuuming your floor, making sure to get along the baseboards and in the corners assures that you are cleaning up all of the dirt. If you notice any other dirt hanging around, grab a bucket of hot water with a little Mr. Clean splashed in and wipe down the rest of the surfaces.

Freshen up your social media.

Now that you have tidied up your wardrobe and room, it’s time to clean up the one place that you probably spend the majority of your time; your social media. Look through your friends and followers. Have you even met them? Did you have a recent falling out? It may be a good idea to delete that person. Next scroll through your pictures taking a moment to think “does this picture display me in the best light possible?” Anything that is borderline or a flat out no; delete.

Try something new!IMG_7688

This spring step out of your comfort zone and try something completely new. Make plans with friends to try out a new café downtown for lunch or go thrift shopping. The possibilities are limitless and the change from everyday life will keep you on your toes and broaden your horizons. You just might even learn something new.

Incorporating these five tips during your “spring clean” will make you will be the most put together Smart Girl on the block.
