Now is the time of the year when everyone enjoys their last days of summer, begins to prepare for school, and gets ready for the fall weather ahead. Fall is personally my favorite time of the year because it’s the time to pull out all the warm and comfy outfits from your closets. There are many great fashion trends that appear throughout the fall season. This year a popular and wearable runway trend for the fall are statement coats. The idea behind a statement coat is that it is the stand out piece of your outfit, but in a very simplistic way. Here are some ways to show off the runway trend.
One way is with the bomber jacket look. This look is great because it can be dressed up or down for a more casual feel. The bomber jacket style comes from the flight jacket that was created for pilots and has since then become a part of pop culture. Bomber jackets are super comfy and look great with a pair of jeans, leggings, and basically anything. Urban Outfitters has some great bomber jackets like the OBEY Varsity Lover Bomber Jacket and the One & Only Urban Renewal Printed Bomber Jacket.
Another look is the anorak look. An anorak or parka is basically a type of jacket that usually has a hood and keeps you really warm. A really popular colored anorak is army green like Nasty Gal’s Dad’s Army Anorak. Most Anoraks are water resistant, which makes them even more perfect for a rainy and chilly fall season.
An adventurous type of statement coat is the leather jacket look. This look is more than the biker chick look and is beyond versatile. Leather in the past few years has become very popular in tops and even pants, but now leather has become a huge trend in coats and jackets. It has been used in a lot of trench coats like in the designer brand Burberry, but also in more affordable brands like Bebe. Bebe has a great trench coat called the Faux Leather Trim Trench. Nasty Gal also has some great leather coats like the Bad Habit Denim Jacket made with black vegan leather. This jacket, similar to Bebe’s trench coat, is a great way to incorporate leather in a simple and sophisticated way.
I hope everyone is enjoying their last days of summer and getting ready for a wonderful school year and a cozy fall!
