Shopping for back to school clothes sometimes means making the transition to your fall wardrobe not-so-eagerly. Don’t lose hope however—there may be a way to keep your summer essentials on even as the season changes. Here are a few tips for how to make a fashionable transition from bikini season to sweater weather!

Additionally, adding a scarf or a fall color such as orange, red, rust or mustard yellow can make any outfit more autumn-appropriate. These things may seem apparent to the fall transition but a little bit can go a long way in terms of sleeve length and pops of color.

Similarly, sleeveless jumpsuits were all the rage this summer, and adding a cover-up can make them all the rage this fall as well. As if we need another reason to love her, Taylor Swift seems to have mastered the sundress and sweater look and even incorporated a fall shade to make it perfect for autumn!

Also, adding a long sweater and a felt hat to a shorts and blouse combo will make the outfit more appealing to the fall temperatures. Nicole Richie is seen sporting the jean shorts look and another outfit combo pairs a jacket with shorts. Add a hat or tights to this look to really show your fashionista side!

There’s no need to put away the sandals JUST yet…wearing long pants a blouse with a scarf or blazer makes it okay to show some toe until the temperature really drops. Similarly, exposing a little leg is okay with the right shoes and layers on top. This outfit from Polyvore, demonstrates that it is A-OKAY to keep the Jack Rogers on while transitioning to fall attire.
