A Smoothie for Every Mood

One thing I love during the summertime is fresh fruit, especially berries. A package of raspberries lasts all of five seconds when I’m around.  I’m fortunate enough to have a great grocery store nearby that’s always stocked with the freshest fruit, but there’s also a fabulous weekly farmer’s market in my area. I definitely recommend farmer’s markets for fresh produce, it’s even better that it’s grown locally!

I am also a long time fan of going to fruit farms and picking my own fruit. I remember going raspberry picking when I was little and for every berry I put in the basket I ate five more! There’s just something so great about fresh fruit in the summer.

With that being said, I’ve been absolutely loving smoothies this summer. They’re super easy to make and are so delicious. While smoothies are great all year, fresh fruit definitely makes them that much better.

Being the smoothie fanatic that I am, I constantly try new recipes. Different ingredients are great for helping with different things. Here are some of my favorites!

If you’re feeling stressed and need an immune system boost….

frozen (or fresh!!) strawberries

strawberry yogurt

orange juice

Or, if you need to relax, replace the strawberry yogurt with a mango!

If you want your skin to glow…..

Fresh coconut

Freshly squeezed orange

If you’re lactose intolerant…..

Vanilla flavored soy milk

Raspberry flavored soy yogurt

If you have a migraine…..

Carrot juice

Celery juice

Freshly ground pepper

(I know it sounds bad, but give it a try! The rosemary and carrot help to detox the liver and maintain good blood circulation to the head, which releases tension!)

If you need a boost of energy…..

Prunes (no pits!)

Orange juice

Plain yogurt

Ground cinnamon

If you want to rejuvenate your eyes…..

(This helps to boost the digestive system and kidneys as well!)

The perfect morning smoothie…..

Apple juice

I know some of these may not sound the most appealing, but they seriously work!
